"Digital Experience" was exhibit at the FIAF gallery ( French Institute Alliance Franchise ) in New York City and its grand opening was on the 15th September 2009. The gathering consist of 400 people. The artist who worked on the project wasValère Terrier, Djeff Regottaz and Bastien Ribeiro. Digital Experience uses the body movement of a person and also temperature to activate the fans and lights. The moving fans synchronize with the light box to create a majestic rhythm.
What attracted you to this piece of interactive art in
the first place?
The first time I watched the video, the most attracted thing that
I first saw was the small moving fans that activated when our body movement
pass through. That was really amazing and it really blew my mind. I never
thought such a simple thing could make such a beautiful art. Not only that,
When the fans are lighted up , the flow of the lights when through the long
light box. The purple-blue lights really were astounding. It looks like as
if pixels are playing with each other. The main attraction that made this
interactive installation art played its role was the lights movement through
the fans and the light box.
How did you feel when you first saw this interactive art?
The feeling i had was mostly excitement, I feel like that I wanted
to play with the moving fans and dance around like a little girl. The Digital
Experience really made me wonder how an artist is this creative and imaginative
whereas I am still in the process on discovering. The urge to learn and to
discover new things was refreshing again. It really made my heart fill with
butterflies as if I am in love. The night fill with pixel lights was just
beautiful. My eyes shine brightly with hope and desire. The
experience made me realize that I really have a long journey to go and now I
just pray everything would be as majestic as this.
What element/s made this interactive art successful in engaging
you?
The elements that made this interactive art successful in was how
the moving fans are able to detect the movement body of the person and by that
it activates the lights of the moving fan and then the flow towards the light
box. No matter where we move near the moving fans, the fans are able to detect
it and creates pixel row of lights according to our body movement.
What was the " Wow" factor for you?
The wow factor for me must be how the fans are able to be
activated according to our body movement. If i was there to experience it
, I would have really played around the fans. Not only you experience the light
effects but you can also feel breezy. That is really interesting and also
entertaining. How the fans are activated really reminds me of the cooling fan
under my laptop but uses in a really fun way to interact with the person. The
Digital Experience really has a fantastic way of interacting with the
user.
If there is one thing that you want to add to this interactive artwork,
what would it be?
I would really love to add more color to the flow of the
lights produce by the fans and the light box. The color could be based on their
moods so that the interactive artwork is able to produce the mood of the user.
The movement of the fans would have been more interesting if it is able to
detect from afar so that the user are able to see the flow of the lights to the
light box. Not only are the friends able to see the lights flowing but as well
as the person who is engaging with the moving fans.
